The story behind the lens

I picked up my first camera at seventeen, trying to capture a sunset that seemed too perfect to let go. That feeling — the urgent need to hold onto a fleeting moment — has driven everything I've done since.

Fifteen years later, that urgency hasn't faded. Every wedding, every senior session, every school picture day — I still feel it. The light shifts, someone laughs, two people share a glance they think no one notices. Those are the moments I live for.

I started Catch-Light Photography with a simple belief: the best photographs aren't the ones that look perfect. They're the ones that feel true. My approach is documentary at heart — I guide gently but rarely pose. The result is images that feel alive, warm, and unmistakably yours.

When I'm not behind a camera, you'll find me walking my golden retriever along the shore, experimenting with film photography, or teaching at community workshops. I believe photography should be accessible, joyful, and deeply personal.

What it's like working with me

Before your session: We'll chat (by phone or coffee — your choice) about what matters most to you. I want to understand your vision, your comfort level, and what makes you feel most like yourself.

During your session: I keep things relaxed and genuine. Light direction, easy prompts, and plenty of space for real moments to unfold. You don't need to be photogenic — I'll find your light.

After your session: Your curated gallery arrives within 2-3 weeks, delivered through a beautiful online platform. Print orders, albums, and wall art are all available directly through your gallery.
