The Story Behind the Lens

I picked up my first camera at sixteen — a beat-up Pentax K1000 that my grandmother pressed into my hands with the words, "Go see what you notice." That afternoon in the desert outside Tucson changed everything. I noticed how light pooled in the wrinkles of saguaro bark, how shadows painted stories on sun-baked walls, how a single shaft of golden hour light could transform an ordinary moment into something sacred.

Fifteen years later, that same instinct drives every session. I'm drawn to warmth — warm light, warm connections, warm laughter that crinkles the corners of your eyes. My style is documentary at heart: I want to capture what's actually happening, not a manufactured version of it.

Based in the desert Southwest, I travel anywhere the light is good (which, let's be honest, is everywhere). My work has been featured in Desert Weddings, Southwest Bride, and Portraits Magazine. But the publication I care about most is your coffee table — the album you'll reach for on a Tuesday night, just because.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me hiking with my two rescue dogs, experimenting with natural dye techniques, or hunting for vintage pottery at estate sales. I believe the best photographs happen when people forget there's a camera pointed at them — and I've gotten very good at disappearing.
